What Does 420 Mean?
The meaning of 420 is one of those things everybody knows with some certainty and nobody knows for sure. It usually means weed. Grass. Pot. Mary Jane. Cannabis. Marijuana. It’s one of countless popular nicknames for a medicinal plant that has been part of human history longer than anybody knows with confidence.
The nickname itself seems most likely to have originated among some San Rafael, Calif. high school students, then perhaps gained traction when one of the students became a roadie for a well-known rock-n-roll band. Unlike Oklahoma medical marijuana law, most people involved with the term generally know what it means and usually have some familiarity with folklore associated with the term 420.
Currently, the Chinese emperor Shennong (the “Divine Farmer”) is credited in the Shennong Ben Cao Jing (a foundational herbal text) with first identifying cannabis as a medicinal herb, used to treat ailments like malaria, rheumatism, and memory issues. When modern medical regulators failed to endorse any of the many medicinal qualities attributed to the plant, voters in Oklahoma and several other states took matters into their own hands, approving ballot measures that legalized marijuana in various forms under state laws.
420.Law is here to help you navigate the potentially hazardous intersection between the cannabis industry and Oklahoma medical marijuana law. Whether your entrepreneurial aspirations envision a dispensary, a grow operation, a processing business or simply transporting and providing services to other cannabusinesses, the 420.Law Oklahoma medical marijuana attorney is ready to make sure you stay on the right side of the law.
