Cannabis Industry Compliance: Key Programs for Process Validation
Hello, this is Oklahoma cannabis business attorney Jesse Kovach with the OK Cannabis Law Office. Today, we will be talking about process validation and what programs must be maintained by a licensee to achieve process validation. So there are several programs that you have to maintain and each has its requirements, but here we’re just going to go through the main what programs are required.
You need a quality management system that is established in a quality management manual. It outlines what you will do to commit yourself to creating quality products and services for your patients and serves as a reference guide for going forward whether or not you’re maintaining those standards. You’re also going to need an employee training program, a record-keeping, a record retention and document control program, a disease and foreign material control program, an equipment program, a sanitation program, and an environmental monitoring program.
Programs Required for Process Validation
This would describe a system to regularly monitor and document any environmental conditions to ensure that those conditions remain appropriate and consistent at your location. You also need a supplier qualification program, a raw materials ingredients and final product qualification program, and a corrective and preventative action program that provides a systematic approach to investigate, address, and prevent issues related to product quality or safety. You need a batch records program. You need a packaging and labeling program, a waste program, a storage program, and a transport and shipping program.
Again, each one of those programs has specific requirements that are outlined in the OMMA rules and regulations. I’m going to cover those in different videos, but just as a general overarching matter, these are the programs that you need to have in place in order to achieve process validation in the Oklahoma.
